About Mazda CX-7

The CX-7 offers a choice between front-wheel drive and Mazda’s Active Torque Split all-wheel drive system, as well as a fully independent suspension, four wheel ventilated disc brakes with standard anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control. Additionally, the CX-7 features electronic stability control and traction control. The Active Torque Split system consists of a pair of computer-controlled magnetic clutches that can send as much as fifty percent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels.

The official fuel economy for the combined cycle in Australia is 11.5 liters per one hundred kilometers (25 miles per imperial gallon; 20.5 miles per American gallon), which is comparable to the Holden Captiva.

However, the fuel economy in real-world driving is closer to 18.0 liters per 100 kilometers (15.7 mpg imp; 13.1 mpg US), which is the same as or greater than the Ford Territory.

As of the model year 2010, there are four different trim levels available, which are labeled iSV, iSport, sTouring, and sGrand Touring in order of increasing levels of standard equipment. The Touring and Grand Touring models both come standard with all-wheel drive and can be equipped with the 2.3-liter turbocharged engines as an option. A 2.5-liter MZR L5-VE naturally aspirated DOHC inline four engine is standard equipment for the Sport and SV trim levels.

Canadian models included GS Front Wheel Drive, GS All Wheel Drive, GT Front Wheel Drive, GT All Wheel Drive. Both the “CX-7 Classic” Base trim and the “CX-7 Luxury” upper trim were available on Australian models with all-wheel drive only. The 2.3T and 2.2D ‘Sport Tech’ models were not available for purchase at the same time in the United Kingdom (where AWD was the only available drivetrain).

Revisions were made to both the front and rear fascias of the vehicle’s exterior. The front fascia received a larger five-point grille design, which was styled similarly to that of the contemporary RX-8, MX-5, and Mazda3/Axela.
