About Chevrolet Colorado
GM’s operations in North America, GM’s operations in Brazil, and Isuzu worked together to design the Chevrolet Colorado and its twin, the GMC Canyon. Isuzu began selling its own version of the vehicle all over the world in the year 2002. Isuzu introduced a model known as the Isuzu i-series in late 2005 for sale in the North American market. Isuzu’s North American model diverged from the company’s international lineup in terms of its powertrains, style, and equipment. The Colorado and the Canyon twins were the only vehicles that shared these characteristics. The GMT355 serves as the foundation for all Chevrolet, GMC, and Isuzu models sold across the world. The GMT345 also serves as the foundation for the GMT-345-based Hummer H3. A GM plant in Rayong, Thailand, is responsible for producing the majority of vehicles destined for markets outside of North America. Shreveport Operations was responsible for the production of every car destined for the North American market.
The partnership between General Motors and Isuzu to produce a light-duty truck and sell it in North America is a revival of an agreement that the two companies first collaborated on in the 1970s to produce the Chevrolet LUV, which was essentially a rebranded version of the Isuzu Faster.
