Oil Reset Procedure for Lincoln Town Car 2003-2011

Simple to follow oil reset procedure for Lincoln Town Car for the year 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Oil Reset Procedure for Lincoln Town Car for the year 2003 through 2005

1. Turn the vehicle to the ON position.

2. Press and hold the MODE button for 5 seconds or until “Reset For New Oil Life” is displayed.

3. Press and release the RESET button within 1 minute to reset oil life.

4. Turn the ignition to OFF position and turn back on to verify reset successful.

Oil Reset Procedure for Lincoln Town Car for the year 2003 through 2011

1. Press the MODE button repeatedly until one of these three messages is displayed; OIL LIFE XX%, CHANGE OIL SOON or CHANGE OIL NOW.

2. Press and hold the MODE button for 5 seconds until RESET FOR NEW OIL LIFE is displayed.

3. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds. The oil life value will be reset to 100%.

Note: If the RESET button is not pressed after one minute of no activity, the original oil life will be restored.

Note: If power is interrupted during the reset oil life mode, the overhead console resets the oil life to the original value.

Oil Reset Procedure for Lincoln Town Car for the year 2006 through 2009

1. Turn ignition to the “RUN” position.

2. Press “SETUP” to display “OIL LIFE RESET = % HOLD RESET = NEW”.

3. Press and hold “RESET” for 2 seconds and release to reset to 100%.

4. Turn ignition off.

1. Press the SETUP button until the display reads “Press Select To Begin System Check”.

2. Press the SELECT button to display “Oil Life – Press Reset If New Oil”.

3. Press and hold the RESET button until “Oil Life Start Value Set To 100%” is displayed.

4. The oil life is now set to 100%.

1. Turn ignition to the “RUN” position (press the “START/STOP” button once).

2. Use the arrow keys to select “SETTINGS”.

3. Select “VEHICLE”.

4. Select “OIL LIFE RESET”, and then “OK”.

5. Turn ignition off.

Oil Reset Procedure for Lincoln Town Car for the year 2011

1. Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine).

2. Press and release SETUP to display “”OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW”” and press SELECT.

3. Press and hold RESET for 2 seconds and release to reset the oil life to 100%.

4. Again, press and hold the RESET control for 3 seconds. Oil Life is set to 100% and “OIL LIFE START VALUE XXX%” is displayed.

5. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

About Lincoln Town Car

Lincoln Town Cars of the third generation were first shown to the public at the New York International Auto Show in 1997. They did not go on sale until November of that same year. All three sedans that were built on the Panther platform received comprehensive exterior and interior facelifts for the 1998 model year, with the Town Car receiving the most extensive update of the three. The exterior of the 1998 Town Car adopted the rounded appearance of the Lincoln Mark VIII and the Lincoln Continental from 1995, marking a departure from the straight-lined design language that had been used by full-size Lincoln sedans for more than 35 years. The Lincoln Navigator, the first sport utility vehicle (SUV) to be sold by the Lincoln division, was released almost at the same time as the third generation of the Town Car.
