About Lincoln MKS

The Lincoln MKS is a full-sized luxury sedan that was manufactured and marketed by the Lincoln division of Ford from 2008 until 2016. Its production and marketing years were 2008 through 2016. The MKS was initially displayed for the first time in November 2007 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The production of the MKS for the 2009 model year started in May 2008 at the Ford Chicago Assembly plant, and sales started a month later. The MKS was the first model to carry the “MK” nomenclature all the way through its production run. It was also the second Lincoln to use the “MK” designation after the MKT. As a result of Lincoln’s decision to stop producing the Town Car in 2011, the MKS, which measures 205.6 inches in length, surpassed the Town Car as the longest production sedan that was offered for sale by an American automaker up until 2016.

Firthermore, the Lincoln MKS was built on the same Ford D3 platform as the fifth- and sixth-generation Ford Taurus, and it featured standard front-wheel drive with an all-wheel drive upgrade available as an option (a first in a full-size Lincoln). The 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 was the first turbocharged gasoline engine ever installed in a Lincoln vehicle. This engine is shared with the Taurus SHO.

Moreover, at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2007, the production model of the Lincoln MKS was shown off to the general public for the first time. In the summer of 2008 marked the beginning of sales for the 2009 model. The new grille with a chrome finish and a split-wing design was added to the front fascia of the production model before it went into production. Additionally, the chrome exhaust tips of the MKS Concept were originally trapezoidal in shape, but they have since been changed to the more conventional circular shape.
