About Lincoln LS
The Lincoln LS is a luxury vehicle that was produced by Ford’s Lincoln division over the course of a single generation, from 1999 to 2006, and featured four doors and seating for five passengers. Rear-wheel drive and a weight distribution that was close to 50/50 were standard on the LS, which debuted in June 1999 for the model year 2000 and was available with either a V8 or V6 engine, with the V6 model initially being offered with a manual transmission.
The Jaguar S-Type and the Ford Thunderbird were also built on the same platform as the LS, which was the Ford DEW98. In 2004, the base model was a V6 and the highest trim level available was the Special Edition V8 LSE. Additionally, the front and rear fascia, taillights, foglights, and front grille were all updated.
Moreover, Ford’s Wixom Assembly Plant was responsible for the production of LS models until production was halted on April 3, 2006, and the plant was shut down as part of Ford’s “The Way Forward” initiative. There were approximately 262,900 units produced, with 2,331 featuring manual transmissions and 1,500 LSE editions being available.
Furthermore, The LS underwent a redesign in 2003, which coincided with the launch of Lincoln’s “Travel Well” advertising campaign at the time. The exterior was updated with optional HID headlamps as well as a redesigned trunklid that featured updated taillights. Both of the engines that are available have had their power and torque increased, in addition to having their fuel efficiency marginally improved.
