About Lexus LS 600hL
At the New York International Auto Show in April 2006, a hybrid version known as the LS 600h L (UVF46) was shown for the first time. When it was first released in 2006, it immediately took home the title of Car of the Year Japan for the second consecutive year.
Following the introduction of a hybrid powertrain with the LF-Sh concept car in 2005, Lexus started selling the LS 600h L (UVF46) in May 2007, making it the first production V8-powered full-hybrid vehicle. This was for the 2008 model year. The Lexus LS 600h L with long-wheelbase comes standard with Lexus Hybrid Drive, which consists of a 5.0-liter 2UR-FSE V8 engine that is mated to a high-output electric motor that is equipped with nickel-metal hydride battery packs. This setup makes use of a transmission that has a continuously variable gear ratio and has a power output of 327 kilowatts (439 hp).
In April of 2007, Lexus made the announcement that the base price for the LS 600h L would be over US$104,000. This made it the most expensive Japanese luxury car ever produced, eclipsing the Toyota Century with a V12 engine as the most expensive model.
