About Jaguar XFR

The Jaguar XF was designed at the company’s headquarters for design and development in Whitley, which is located in Whitley, Coventry. The vehicle was assembled at the Castle Bromwich Assembly facility, which is located in Birmingham.

Because of the time constraints that were placed on the development team by Jaguar’s board, the X250 makes use of a heavily modified version of the Ford DEW98 platform. Originally, it was intended for the XF to use a platform made entirely of aluminum.

Following the presentation of the C-XF concept to the general public in January 2007 at the North American International Auto Show, the XF was introduced to the public for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007. Beginning in March of 2008, customers were able to choose from a variety of V6 and V8 engines when their vehicles were delivered.

The XFR was introduced as a new performance derivative of the XF range in January 2009 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It featured a new 5.0-liter supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III engine rated at 510 PS (375 kW; 503 hp), a revised front bumper and spoiler, and 20-inch (508 mm) alloy wheels.

At 6,500 revolutions per minute (rpm), the engine produces 550 PS (542 hp; 405 kW), and it generates 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm. The 0–97 km/h (60 mph) sprint takes the XFR-S only 4.4 seconds, and it can reach a top speed of 299 km/h (186 mph). The XFR-S is differentiated from the XFR by its custom-made alloy wheels that measure 20 inches, its wider front grills, and its use of carbon fiber. The front grills, the large rear wing, and the rear diffuser all contribute to the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency.

On November 7, 2008, Paul Gentilozzi of Rocketsports was behind the wheel of a modified XFR and drove it to a new Jaguar record speed of 225.675 mph (363.189 km/h) on the Bonneville Salt Flats. This achievement set a new benchmark for the brand. The new record is faster than the previous Jaguar record, which was set in 1992 in an XJ220 and was 217.1 mph (349.4 km/h). The stock vehicle underwent a number of modifications, including the installation of a low-mounted rear spoiler, the mapping of the electronic control unit (ECU), which resulted in an increase in power to 510 PS (375 kW; 503 hp), the use of a modified air intake and exhaust system, and revised supercharger settings.
