About Jaguar XKR

Geoff Lawson, who was working for Jaguar at the time, was the design director for the XJS, which was replaced by the XK8 in 1996. Both the two-door coupé and the two-door convertible versions featured 2+2 seating configurations. It came in two different body styles: a two-door coupé and a two-door convertible. The vehicle was the first in the Jaguar lineup to use the brand-new 32-valve V8 engine that Jaguar had developed. This engine, known as the AJ-V8, had a displacement of 4.0 liters and was used in the car.

In 1998, an even more potent model, the XKR, joined the lineup alongside the XK8. The XKR came with a modified version of the V8 engine that was supercharged and rated at 276 kW. (375 PS; 370 hp). The engine was the same as the one found in the XJR, but it came equipped with a brand-new intercooler and a two-piece driveshaft. Eaton was the company that produced the supercharger, and it had a capacity of 2.0 liters. It accomplished this by producing 11.9 pounds of boost pressure, which in turn contributed to the increased power output. Rear spoiler, mesh front grille, and hood louvres on the bonnet were some of the visible differences between the XK8 and the XKR. Both were designed to improve the flow of air to the engine.

17-inch alloy wheels were standard on the XK8, while 18-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch wheels were available as options for both the XK8 and the XKR for an additional cost. The XKR came equipped with 18-inch wheels as standard. The Adaptive Cruise Control system offered by Jaguar is a feature that can be purchased as an add-on for either model. The interior of both models was upholstered entirely in leather, and they featured burl walnut trim and side airbags. There were two different interior configurations that could be purchased. The sport configuration featured a leather interior with cloth seats, and it was marketed toward younger buyers. The classic trim featured more convenience features.

The XK range received a mechanical update in 2002, which included the engines in both the XK8 and XKR models being enlarged to 4.2 liters and gaining more power, as well as the front headlamps being updated by the addition of a clear lens. In addition, the XK range was given a new look. Additional modifications included new exterior colors, wheels, and badging, as well as modifications to the badges. In the spring of 2004, the models underwent yet another round of revisions, which included the introduction of new wheel designs, expanded front and rear spoilers, and an updated grille.
