About Jaguar XK
The Jaguar XK is a two-door, two-plus-two-seater grand tourer that was produced and marketed by Jaguar Cars, a British automobile manufacturer, from 1996 until 2014. The XK was available in hatchback coupé and convertible bodystyles, spanning two generations of the model. The XK was first displayed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1996 and remained in production until July 2014 before being discontinued.
It was Jaguar’s first 8-cylinder model since the Daimler 250, and it introduced the brand-new Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The first generation was marketed as the XK8, which succeeded the XJS in the company’s lineup. The platform that the XK8 was built on was also used by the Aston Martin DB7, which in turn was based on the abandoned XJ41/42 project that was built on a modified XJ-S chassis and conceived of in the middle of the 1980s. In 2006, in preparation for the 2007 model year, Jaguar introduced the second generation of the XK, which was distinguished by its aluminum monocoque chassis and construction.
Jaguar’s chief designer Ian Callum was responsible for the design of the second generation of the XK, which was introduced in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. The front fascia of the X150 was modeled after that of the E-Type from 1961. The Advanced Lightweight Coupé (ALC) was first shown to the public at the North American International Auto Show in 2005. The XK is an evolution of that vehicle. Both the bonded and riveted aluminum chassis that is shared with the XJ as well as the body panels are firsts for a Jaguar grand tourer and are featured in the XK. In contrast to the XK (X100), the XK (X150) has a width of 61.0 millimeters (2.4 inches) and a length of 162.6 millimeters (6.4 inches).
