Honda Element oil reset procedure for the year 2003 through 2006
1. Turn ignition off.
2. Press the “SELECT” and “RESET” switches at the same time, and turn to ignition to the “ON” position.
3. Hold switches for at least 10 seconds until the indicator is reset.
4. Turn ignition off.
Honda Element oil reset procedure for the year 2007 through 2011
1. Turn ignition to the “RUN” position.
2. Press the “SELECT/RESET” knob until the enigne life indicator is displayed.
3. Press the “SELECT/RESET” knob for more than 10 seconds, the indicator and the maintenance code(s) will blink.
4. Press the “SELECT/ RESET” knob for 5 more seconds, the maintenance code(s) will disappear and oil life will be reset to 100.
5. Turn ignition off.
About Honda Element
The Honda Element is a compact crossover SUV that has been manufactured by Honda and marketed in North America over the course of a single generation for model years 2003–2011. It is distinguished by its boxy exterior styling with bi-parting side doors as well as its boxy, flexible interior layout.
The Element was built on a slightly modified version of the second generation CR-V platform in East Liberty, Ohio. It was available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. By the end of 2010, just a few months before production was halted, the total number of units produced had reached approximately 325,000.
The Element was based on a concept that was initially referred to as the Model X. This concept was developed by a core group of Honda R&D engineers in 1998, and it made its first public appearance at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in 2001. The Tesla Model X is an activity-oriented vehicle that was designed to combine the features of a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle. Its exterior design was inspired by a lifeguard station, and its roofline is arched to evoke the curve of a surfboard.
The structure of the Element, which is most famous for its four bi-parting side doors that open to provide a clear aperture of 55.5 inches, eliminates the B-pillars by reinforcing and enlarging the side sills, floor and roof cross members, and providing five bulkheads per side. The Element is also known for its clear aperture of 55.5 inches. When the rear doors are closed, they use a hook and catch mechanism to connect to the body side sill, effectively forming a B-pillar.
The production version of the Element made its debut at the New York International Auto Show in 2002 with an interior that featured TPO-coated textured urethane flooring; stain-resistant fabric; individually reclining and removable rear seats that stow away; and other amenities.
For model years 2007-2011, the four-cylinder i-VTEC 2.4 Litre K Engine produced 166 horsepower (124 kW) at 5800 revolutions per minute and 162 pound-feet (220 Nm) of torque at 4000 revolutions per minute. For model years 2003-2006, the engine produced 160 horsepower (119 kW) at 5500 revolutions per minute and 160 pound-feet (217 Nm) of torque at 4500 revolutions per minute.
Drive is either front-wheel drive or, as an optional extra, all wheel drive, which is accomplished through a hydraulically actuated on demand system that engages when the front wheels start to slip. This system is marketed as “Real Time 4WD.” The Element has a gross weight of 4450 pounds and a towing capacity of 680 kilograms, which is equal to 1500 pounds (2018 kg).
