1. Turn ignition to the “RUN” position and immediately press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.

2. If the light flashes twice the system is reset.

About GMC C2500 LD

The 1500 moniker is given to the light-duty trucks. They are offered in three different cab lengths: the standard or regular cab with two doors, the extended cab with three or four doors, and the crew cab with four front-hinged doors. There are three different lengths of cargo beds that can be purchased: a short box measuring 69.2 inches (1,758 mm), a standard box measuring 78.7 inches (1,999 mm), and a long box measuring 97.6 inches (2,479 mm). The crew cab and the extended cab are the only two configurations that offer the short box.

Only the regular cab and an extended cab with three doors were offered during the first year, along with three different engine options: the Vortec 4300 V6, the Vortec 4800 V8, and the Vortec 5300 V8. In the year 2000, the extended cab received an additional door on the driver’s side, giving it a total of four, and in the year 2004, the crew-cab body was added to the lineup of available options. The output of the 5.3 L engine was raised to 285 horsepower (213 kW), as well as 325 pound-feet (441 Nm) of torque.

The 6.0 L Vortec 6000 V8 was a standard feature on the 2500 and was introduced for the 2001 Heavy Duty models. This engine was rated at 300 horsepower (224 kW), but the GMC Sierra 1500 C3 received an upgraded version of this engine that produced 325 horsepower (242 kW). The Silverado Z71 had a lighter composite box as an available option, along with a suspension package designed for towing; however, it did not have a high-output engine. In 2002, the C3 was renamed the Denali, and Quadrasteer was included in the lineup.

In 2003, General Motors debuted a redesigned model of the Silverado and Sierra, which featured an all-new front end and a rear end that had been modified very slightly. Another facelift was given to the Silverado in 2006, and it was very similar to the HD version that was introduced in 2005 HD models. In addition to that, the “Chevrolet” badge that was located on the tailgate of Chevrolet vehicles from the years 1998 to 2005 has been removed. Its SUV counterparts continued to make use of the sheet metal that was used before the facelift. As a measure to reduce production costs, all light-duty GMT800 pickups switched from front disc brakes to rear drum brakes during the 2005 model year. On the other hand, heavy-duty trucks and SUVs kept their 4-wheel disc brakes.

In 2001, GMC introduced the Sierra C3, an upscale version of the Sierra 1500. It had all-wheel drive and a 3.73 final drive gear ratio, as well as a 6.0 L Vortec 6000 LQ4 V8 engine with 325 hp (242 kW) at 5000 rpm and 370 lb•ft (502 Nm) of torque at 4000 rpm, coupled to a 4L60E-HD four-speed automatic transmission and other upscale features. The name was changed to Sierra Denali for 2002, but the specifications remained essentially the same with the addition of Quadrasteer and GM switching from the 4L60E-HD to the 4L65E with a 4.10 final drive gear ratio.
