About Ford Edge

The Ford Motor Company produces a range of crossover SUVs under the name Ford Edge. These vehicles fall under the category of “crossovers.” The Ford Edge was the first mid-size crossover utility vehicle (CUV) that Ford sold in North America; the model line is currently in its second generation after being introduced for the 2007 model year. Within the Ford product line, the Ford Edge is located between the Ford Escape and the Ford Explorer. It gets its name from a trim package that was available for the Ford Ranger.

The Ford Fusion sedan serves as the basis for this model line, which Ford has also produced as the Lincoln MKX and, beginning in 2019, as the Lincoln Nautilus. The first generation of this model line was also manufactured by Mazda as the CX-9. Ford of Europe also markets the second generation of this vehicle, which is positioned between the Kuga (Escape) and the Explorer PHEV in terms of sales.

The 2011 Ford Edge was revealed at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, with production beginning on February 12, 2010. The exterior has been updated with a new front fascia, wheels, and a revised bumper, while the interior has been updated with upgraded materials and capacitive touch controls in place of some conventional buttons and switches, as seen on the second-generation Lincoln MKX.

The updated first generation offered the following engines: a 2.0-L EcoBoost I4 engine, a 3.5-L Duratec with Ti-VCT engine producing 285 hp (213 kW) and 253 lbft (343 Nm) of torque, and the Sport model featured the same 3.7-L Duratec engine as the 2011 Lincoln MKX, producing 305 hp (227 kW) and 280 lbft (380 Nm).
