Oil Reset Procedure for Ford Windstar 1997-2003

 

 

 

Simple to follow oil reset procedure for Ford Windstar for the year 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.

 

 

Ford Windstar oil reset procedure for the year 1997 through 1998

1. Turn ignition to the “RUN” position.

2. Press and hold the “RESET” button for 5 seconds.

3. Turn ignition off.

Ford Windstar oil reset procedure for the year 1999 through 2000

1. Turn ignition to the “RUN” position.

2. Press the “SETUP” button to access the system check menu.

3. Press the “RESET” button and “OIL LIFE % HOLD RESET NEW” will be displayed.

4. Press and hold the “RESET” button for 2 seconds, “IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET” will be displayed.

5. Press and hold the reset button again, “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%” will be displayed. Oil life is now reset.

6 Turn ignition off.

1. Turn ignition to the “RUN” position.

2. Press the “SETUP” button to access the system check menu.

3. Press the “RESET” button and “OIL LIFE % HOLD RESET NEW” will be displayed.

4. Press and hold the “RESET” button for 2 seconds, “IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET” will be displayed.

5. Press and hold the reset button again, “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%” will be displayed. Oil life is now reset.

About Ford Windstar

The Ford Windstar was a minivan that was manufactured and marketed for sale by Ford. It was later renamed the Ford Freestar and the Mercury Monterey. The Windstar, which was Ford’s replacement for the Aerostar, was built on the same platform as Chrysler’s minivans and featured front-wheel drive. Three generations of the model line were available for purchase between the model years 1995 and 2007, with the third and final generation receiving the name Ford Freestar.

The Windstar was marketed without a Lincoln-Mercury equivalent despite the fact that it has no connection to the Nissan-developed Mercury Villager. The Mercury Monterey nameplate was brought back to life in 2004 as part of the launch of the Ford Freestar. This minivan was Mercury’s first vehicle to be produced by Ford and carried the Monterey name.

After experiencing a drop in sales during the middle of the 2000s, the minivan market as a whole experienced a decline, which led to the Freestar and Monterey being discontinued after the 2007 model year with no direct replacement. In North America, the model line was functionally matched by the 7-passenger 2008 Ford Taurus X wagon/CUV; in Mexico, the Freestar was replaced by the Ford Transit/Tourneo. In Mexico, the Ford Taurus X wagon/CUV was available for purchase. The year 2014 marked Ford’s return to the market with the introduction of the 7-seater version of the compact MPV known as the Transit Connect for the North American market.

Oakville Assembly was the supplier of both the Ford Windstar/Freestar and the Mercury Monterey automobiles while they were being manufactured. There were a total of 1,984,232 units produced.

Ford launched the Aerostar minivan with some success in 1985; while it outsold the Chevrolet Astro/GMC Safari, Volkswagen Vanagon, and its Japanese competition, it consistently ranked second in minivan sales. To compete with Chrysler, Ford decided that its next minivan would use the same front-wheel drive layout that Chrysler had popularized.

The front-wheel-drive minivan, codenamed “WIN88,” began development in 1988, with a planned debut in 1993. (for the 1994 model year). Design work was well underway by 1989, with a concept design theme selected by December 1989. Camilo Pardo’s WIN88 exterior design was frozen in 1990 for scheduled 1993 production, with prototypes being tested beginning in early 1991. Windstar trademarks were filed with the USPTO on April 13, 1992, with development ending in 1993.
