About Saturn Aura
The Saturn Aura is a four-door, five-passenger front engine/front-wheel drive mid-sized sedan produced and marketed by GM’s Saturn subsidiary from 2006 to 2009. The car was released a year before the seventh generation Chevrolet Malibu, its closest platform companion.
The Aura made its debut as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show in January 2005, followed by the production model at the New York Auto Show in 2006. As Saturn’s largest sedan, production began in North America in the summer of 2006 for the 2007 model year. The Saturn Aura replaced the Saturn L-Series, which was phased out after the 2005 model year.
Given the European origins of the 2007 Saturn Aura, the car’s chassis was also used for the Saab 9-3. In addition, the Aura used hydraulic power steering (on V-6 models only), which provided more feedback and a more linear feel than the fussy electric power-assist units. In 2009, an entry-level XR was introduced. It featured the XE’s 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels and the 2.4-liter LE5 Ecotec engine mated to GM’s all-new 6T40 6-speed automatic transmission with TAPshift. The 3.6L VVT with 18-inch wheels was an option. (Source: Wiki)
