About Saab 900

The Saab 900 is a mid-sized automobile that was manufactured by Saab in two generations, the first from 1978 to 1993 and the second from 1994 to 1998.

The first-generation car was built on the Saab 99 chassis, but with a longer front end to meet frontal crash regulations in the United States[citation needed]. The 900 was available in 2- and 4-door sedan, 3- and 5-door hatchback, and cabriolet (convertible) body styles beginning in 1986. There were single- and twin-Zenith carburettors, fuel-injected engines, and turbocharged engines, including Full Pressure Turbo (FPT) and, in European models during the early 1990s, Low Pressure Turbos (LPT).

1992 saw mostly equipment changes, with ABS brakes becoming standard across the board. 1993 saw no changes, and “classic” 900 production ended on March 26, 1993, with a new GM2900 platform-based 900 entering production shortly afterwards. The final classic convertibles were still sold as 1994 models, with the Special Edition commanding high resale prices even today. There were 908,817 Saab 900s built in total, including 48,888 convertibles. (Source: Wiki)
