About Pontiac G8
The Pontiac G8 is a full-size sedan manufactured by Holden in Australia before being exported to the United States and sold by Pontiac. The G8, a rebadged Holden Commodore, was released in early 2008 in the United States for the 2008 model year, and in 2008 in Canada for the 2009 model year. Following GM’s decision to discontinue the Pontiac brand, production ceased in mid-2009. While it was available, the G8 replaced the Pontiac Bonneville, which was discontinued after the 2005 model year, and the Pontiac Grand Prix, which was discontinued after the 2008 model year. Pontiac’s first full-size car since the Bonneville was the G8.
By December 2008, the rear-wheel-drive G8 had not replaced the previous front-drive models as expected, with 11,000 unsold G8s in inventory and only 13,000 sold. During the global economic downturn of 2009, market prices for the car fell by $3000-5000 below GM’s sticker price. There were only 5,000 unsold G8s in inventory by July 2009, with nearly 30,700 sold. (Source: Wiki)
