About Lexus RX 350
In 1998, sales of the first-generation RX 300, which featured a V6 engine displacing 3.0 liters, got under way. The 2.2-liter inline-four engine that came standard on the 1997 model year Harrier sold in the Japanese market was later upgraded to 2.4 liters. Models of the second generation RX 300 (3.0 liter V6) and RX 330 (3.3 liter V6) went on sale in 2003. In 2006, the more powerful RX 350 (3.5 liter V6) replaced both of these variants. In the Japanese market Harrier, a 2.4-liter inline-four engine was available in addition to a 3.0-liter V6 engine, as was the case with the previous series.
In 2005, a hybridized gasoline-electric version of the 3.3-liter second-generation model was made available. This version was sold under the name RX 400h in export markets, and it was sold in Japan under the name Harrier Hybrid. Both the RX 350 (3.5-liter V6) and RX 450h (3.5-liter V6 hybrid) models were initially available for the third generation, which was released in 2009. Lexus has also been selling an entry-level RX 270 (2.7-liter inline-four) in some Asian markets, including Japan, since 2010. Since the launch of the third generation, sales in Japan have been conducted under the RX name rather than the Harrier name, as had been the case in the past. The previous 2.7-liter engine was replaced with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine in the RX 200t/300 model that was introduced in the fourth generation of the vehicle.
