About KIA Borrego

Kia is a South Korean manufacturer that specializes in producing sport utility vehicles (SUVs). The Kia Mohave is an SUV that is marketed as the Kia Borrego in North America and China. 2008 was the year that the automobile made its debut on the markets in both Korea and the United States. The Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California inspired the naming of the Kia Borrego. The word “Borrego” is Spanish for “bighorned sheep,” which are common residents of the state park.

At the 2008 North American International Auto Show, the production model that had been designed by automotive designer Peter Schreyer, who had previously served as chief designer for Audi, was shown for the first time. Before it was released in the United States, the automobile was first made public as a concept model known as the Kia Mesa and displayed at the North American International Auto Show in 2005. It was first offered for purchase in Korea under the name Mohave before it was brought to market in the United States. As a result of sales that were significantly lower than anticipated in 2009, the Borrego was placed on indefinite hold in the United States for the 2010 model year, and there has been no announcement regarding whether or not it will be revived. Kia, on the other hand, kept on selling the Borrego in Canada, which means that from 2010 until 2011, the Borrego was a nameplate that was only available in Canada.

The Borrego featured body-on-frame construction, adjustable air suspension, hill-descent control, and an automatic transmission with high and low ranges. In the United States, the Borrego has three standard rows of seats. The Borrego is powered by a 3.0 L VGT diesel V6 (introduced in 2010), a second-generation Lambda II 3.8 L V6 producing 206 kW (276 hp), or a 4.6 L V8 Hyundai Tau engine. The Tau V8 engine is tuned to produce less power but more torque than the Hyundai Genesis sedan, producing 269 kW. (361 hp). The V8 has a towing capacity of 3,400 kg (7,500 lb), while the V6 has a towing capacity of 2,300 kg (5,000 lb).
