About KIA Sedona
Since the year 1998, Kia has been producing their minivan under the name “Carnival.” It is marketed globally under a variety of nameplates, the most prominent of which is the Kia Sedona; however, this nameplate is no longer in use because it has been replaced by the Carnival.
In September of 1998 Chevrolet debuted the first generation of the Carnival, which was only offered in a single wheelbase length configuration. Both a short and a long wheelbase version of the second generation of models were available on the market from 2006 to 2014. A rebranded version of the second generation was sold under the name Hyundai Entourage in markets across North America (2007–2009).Beginning in 2010, the second generation model began receiving updated components, one of which was Kia’s corporate Tiger Nose grille, which had been introduced by Peter Schreyer, who was serving as the company’s new design chief at the time. In 2014, Kia debuted the third generation of its minivan, which was only available in the long wheelbase configuration. In 2020, Kia also started using the Carnival nameplate internationally, which was also the year that the fourth generation of the Carnival was released.
The first generation model was manufactured and marketed in a manner that was unique to each region, including in the Chinese market as part of a joint venture with Dongfeng Yueda Kia and in Malaysia as the Naza Ria. This was also the case in other countries.
