About Ford Fusion

The Ford Motor Company is responsible for the production and marketing of a mid-size automobile known as the Ford Fusion. The Fusion has been manufactured in gasoline, gas/electric hybrid, and gas/plug-in electric hybrid iterations over the course of two generations, beginning with the 2006 model year and continuing through the 2020 model year. Together with its rebadged variant the Lincoln MKZ and formerly the Mercury Milan, both of which share its CD3 platform, the Ford Fusion was produced at Ford’s Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly plant in Sonora, Mexico. This plant is located in the same state as Mexico.

On August 1, 2005, manufacturing of the very first Fusions got under way. The Mondeo was replaced by the Fusion in the markets of Latin America, with the exception of Argentina, where the current generation of the European Mondeo is still sold, as well as the markets of the United States and Canada (where it superseded the then mid-size Taurus and the compact Contour). The Fusion fills the space between the more compact Ford Focus and the full-size Ford Taurus in Ford’s lineup. This model is sold alongside the Mondeo in countries located in the Middle East. Only the 2.5-liter engine is available in the models that are sold in that region. There is no V6 engine that can be purchased in that region, in contrast to the United States of America, Canada, and Latin America. The situation is exactly the same in South Korea, where the 2.5-liter engines are the only ones that can be purchased (including those for the hybrid model) as of the 2012 model year.
