1. Turn ignition to the “ON” position.
2. Slowly depress accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
3. “CHANGE OIL SOON” lamp will flash. Turn ignition off.
4. Start engine. Oil life will display 100%.

About Chevrolet Express 4500
GM released a cutaway-chassis version of the 1-ton 3500-series Express/Savana in 1997. The cutaway-chassis Express/Savana is an incomplete vehicle (a chassis produced with no bodywork aft of the front seats) intended for additional fabrication by a third-party manufacturer, replacing the previous G30/G3500 (the larger “HD” variant was not replaced). Cutaway chassis are best known as the foundation of ambulances, buses (shuttle buses and school buses), and recreational vehicles (RVs); they are also fitted with delivery truck bodies or utility bodies (increasing their storage space over a standard cargo van).
The cutaway chassis is still available on the 3500 series in both dual rear-wheel and single rear-wheel configurations, with either Chevrolet Express or GMC Savana branding on both the GMT600 and GMT610 platforms (the latter, trading increased maneuverability for lower GVWR). GM introduced a 4500-series Express/Savana designed specifically for cutaway applications in 2009, increasing its GVWR to 14,200 pounds.
Since 2017, GM has contracted production of GMT610 cutaway-chassis vehicles to Navistar International.
The latest workhorses produced by General Motors are all brand new for the 2009 model year. School buses, shuttle buses, and ambulances are the three principal tasks that are supported by the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana 4500 commercial cutaway vans. These vans were developed to suit the needs of these three primary services.
The improved and more robust chassis of the Express/Savana 4500 is able to support a gross vehicle weight capacity of 14,200 pounds and has a payload rating of 9100 pounds. The chassis was designed to reduce the amount of mass while simultaneously increasing the chassis’s strength. The reinforced frame assembly and other necessary components (such as a new rear axle with reinforced housing, gears, and axle tubes, upgraded rear spring hanger bolt attachments and leaf spring shackle assembly, high-capacity rear spring assembly, upgraded front ball joint material, revised front and rear shock tuning, and rear stabilizer bar) were modified for the same reason. Other components that were upgraded include: In addition, brackets were attached to the upper and lower sections of the side rail bulkheads of the frame in order to give it more strength.
Because it can handle approximately 2500 pounds in GVCW and up to 20,000 pounds in GCWR, the Chevrolet Express and Savana 4500 chassis is ideal for exceptional towing, RV, and school bus functionality. Additionally, GM will be the only original equipment manufacturer (OE) in the market to offer a V-8 turbodiesel that is emissions compliant.
