Jeep Wrangler 2004-2017 Key Programming Procedure
The following are the key programming procedures for Jeep Wrangler 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
ADD KEY (Must have two working Sentry Keys):
1. Put one of the two current keys into the ignition and turn to the ON position.
2. After the key has been in the ON position for at least three seconds — but no more than 15 seconds — turn the key back to the OFF position.
3. Take the key out and put in the second current key, turning it to the ON position, all within 15 seconds. The second key cannot be the same as the first key.
4. After ten seconds, a theft alarm light will illuminate and a single chime will sound. This confirms entry into “Customer Programming Mode”.
5. Within 60 seconds, turn key OFF and remove the current key.
6. Put a new key into the ignition and turn to the ON position.
7. After ten seconds, a single chime will sound. The theft alarm light will turn off. Wait three seconds and turn key OFF.
8. Repeat these steps for additional keys.
About Jeep Wrangler
In 2006, the third-generation Jeep Wrangler was introduced for the 2007 model year. The JK was Jeep’s first Wrangler that was designed from the ground up under DaimlerChrysler’s ownership. It included a completely new body, frame, and suspension. On some Wrangler versions, new features included electric windows, remote power door locks, GPS, and electronically detachable sway bars.
Along with the original 2-door model, a 4-door “Unlimited” variant was introduced, which provided significantly greater space thanks to a wheelbase that was nearly 20 inches (50 cm) longer. These were a big hit with customers. Three-quarters of all new Jeep Wranglers on the market were four-door variants by mid-2017.
For the second year in a row, Jeep announced a cooperation with Activision to create a limited edition Modern Warfare 3 Jeep based on the Wrangler Rubicon model on September 2, 2011. The Jeep is equipped with a number of features, including a Modern Warfare 3 motif on both the interior and outside. In November 2011, Jeep dealers began selling this model.
Kelley Blue Book (KBB) awarded the Jeep Wrangler the 2009 Best Resale Value Award in the sport utility vehicle category. Kelly Blue Book earned it the Best Resale Value Award in the compact sport utility vehicle category in 2012 and 2013. For 1998, 1999, 2003, 2011, and 2012, Kelley Blue Book named the Wrangler as one of the Models to Best Hold Its Value.
The Jeep Wrangler got the Canadian Black Book’s Best Retained Value Award for the compact SUV category in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
After ferrying Matthias Jeschke and his Extrem Events adventure team up Chile’s Ojos del Salado, the highest volcano on Earth, the Jeep Wrangler set the Guinness World Record for greatest height attained by a four-wheeled vehicle in 2007. (record reached the same year by a Suzuki Samurai. From March 7 to March 13, the team’s pair of Wrangler Rubicon Unlimiteds trekked from base camp to the world record height of 6,646 meters (21,804 ft).
The Jeep Wrangler received the magazine Four Wheeler’s Four-Wheeler of the Year Award in 2007 and 2013, while the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon received the title of 4×4 of the Decade in January 2010.
The Jeep Wrangler was named 4×4 of the Year by Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine in 1997, 2007, and 2012.
The four-wheel-drive convertible Jeep Wrangler is ranked fourth among the top ten vehicles with the highest resale value in Forbes Autos’ 2008 edition.
The Wrangler was voted One of the Most Iconic Cars of the Last 20 Years by Business Week magazine in May 2009.
According to a 2018 iSeeCars.com survey, the Jeep Wrangler has the lowest five-year depreciation .
