Dodge Caliber 2008-2012 Key Programming Procedure

The following are the key programming procedures for Dodge Caliber for the year 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

ADD KEY (Must have two working Sentry Keys):

1. Put one of the two current keys into the ignition and turn to the ON position.

2. After the key has been in the ON position for at least three seconds — but no more than 15 seconds — turn the key back to the OFF position.

3. Take the key out and put in the second current key, turning it to the ON position, all within 15 seconds. The second key cannot be the same as the first key.

4. After ten seconds, a theft alarm light will illuminate and a single chime will sound. This confirms entry into “Customer Programming Mode”.

5. Within 60 seconds, turn key OFF and remove the current key.

6. Put a new key into the ignition and turn to the ON position.

7. After ten seconds, a single chime will sound. The theft alarm light will turn off. Wait three seconds and turn key OFF.

8. Repeat these steps for additional keys.

About Dodge Caliber

The 2010 model year was introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, with a refreshed interior design that included metallic outlines and glass parts to replace the excessive use of plastic in previous models, as well as the addition of an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated mirrors, and an automatic climate control system that was previously only available on R/T models. Due to several customer concerns, the glove box has been relocated to the position above the radio panel and now has a “push-open” lock rather than the prior “squeeze-and-lift” opening mechanism.

The 1.8 L engine has been removed from the SE and SXT versions, while the SRT-4 has been phased out. A new 2.2 L diesel engine with 163 horsepower (122 kW) and 236 pound-force-foot (320 Nm) of torque is available for European market vehicles, with a combined city and highway fuel efficiency of 40.6 miles per US gallon (5.79 L/100 km; 48.8 mpgimp).

The models were quickly renamed and rebranded for the US market, with SE becoming “Main Street,” SXT becoming “Heat,” and R/T becoming “Rush.” In 2010, two more models were released: a luxury all-inclusive variety known as “Uptown” and a basic variant known as “Express,” which included the reappearance of the black plastic handles. The “Express” was the only model without automatic climate control, while the “Main Street” included speed control, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control, all of which had previously been unavailable as options for SE. Except for the “Express,” all variants had 17-inch wheels.

Six new paint schemes were introduced for 2011, as well as standard stability control except on Express models, Sirius traffic when equipped with a navigation system, 18-inch chrome-clad wheels available on Uptown models (17″ painted are standard), updated steering except on Express models, and new shocks and a thicker rear anti-roll bar on Rush and Heat models. The Dodge Nitro also came with floor mats for the driver and passenger. With the 2009 model, the Calibers logo was deleted from the mats.

The models were renamed SE, SXT, and SXT Plus for the 2012 model year. All of the SXT features are included in the Plus version, as well as 18-inch aluminum wheels with performance tires and a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat. In Canada, the SXT Plus was not available.

The Caliber 2010 was the final model to be offered in Europe. The 2011 model was discontinued in the United States on November 23, 2011, with the remaining units sold as the Caliber for the 2012 model year in both the United States and Canada. A successor, the Dart, based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta’s platform, was introduced in June 2012 for the 2013 model year as Dodge’s compact vehicle.
