About Mercedes-Benz ML 250
The first generation of the M-Class, also known as the W163 model, is a body-on-frame SUV that was manufactured from 1993 all the way up until 2004. Before moving entirely to a plant in the United States located close to Vance, Alabama, production of the W163 M-Class was carried out by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, for the European market for a brief period of time between the years 1999 and 2002. The second-generation Mercedes-Benz M-Class (W164) switched to a unibody platform while sharing the majority of its components with the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. The GL-Class has a longer body in order to accommodate seating for a third row.
In an effort to harmonize Mercedes-Benz SUV nameplates by aligning it with the E-Class, the M-Class has been renamed as the GLE since April 2015, when the facelifted W166 model was released. This was done in conjunction with the release of the facelifted W166 model. (Source: Automobile)
