About Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG
The CL65 AMG is the pinnacle of German grand touring cars; it is a one-of-a-kind beast that is half opulent sled and half athletic coupe. Good God Almighty: Because the twin-turbo V-12 engine produces so much torque, it is nearly impossible for the vehicle to make contact with the ground, particularly if the 20-inch Dunlop tires are icy. If you misapply even the slightest amount of pressure with your right foot to the accelerator, you will send sparks flying from the rear tires. The vehicle’s acceleration belies its curb weight of 5000 pounds, and the CL65 yearns for open freeways where it can effortlessly travel at speeds in the triple digits.
Even though the test vehicle we drove had a matte finish, this vehicle is still relatively understated in comparison to others in its class such as the Bentley Continental GT. Soon, there will be a new S-class, and not too much longer after that, there will be a new S-class coupe (Mercedes is going to dump the CL badging). There is no information available at this time to indicate whether or not this fantastic twin-turbo V-12 powertrain will continue to be offered, so if you have been considering becoming a member of the twelve-cylinder club, there is no better time than the present.
This car made me consider becoming a police evading fugitive. I believe one’s chances of escaping are unusually good. This car is ridiculously fast at high speeds, and it almost blends in. The massaging Designo leather seats may also help to calm fleeing criminals. Most people would have to rob a bank just to buy and maintain a vehicle like this.
Imagine what it’s like to drive the CL65 if it’s that much fun to look at. It’s difficult to put into words how it feels to have 621 hp and an almost inconceivable 738 lb-ft of torque at your disposal. Prod the accelerator, and you’re traveling at illegal speeds almost before you’ve had a chance to look down at the speedometer — it all happens so smoothly you wouldn’t notice if it weren’t for the fact that the scenery is passing by your windows so quickly.
