About Mercedes-Benz C218 CLS-Class
The C218 Mercedes-Benz CLS is the second generation of the Mercedes CLS-Class range of four-door coupé sedans. The model was produced from 2011 to 2018 and shares the chassis and the majority of the technology with the W212 Mercedes E-class (2010). The range’s body styles are as follows:
a four-door vehicle (C218)
Shooting brake with 5 doors (X218)
Unlike its predecessor, the C218/X218 CLS is available with all-wheel drive 4MATIC on all models, including the CLS 63 AMG. Mercedes also added a new five-door estate model to the CLS lineup, known as the CLS Shooting Brake. In 2018, the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class (C257) replaced the C218 CLS-Class.
The C218 CLS is based on Mercedes-F800 Benz’s Style concept car, which debuted at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. It is a four-door coupé with a new COMAND interface utilizing a touchpad, design cues inspired by the Mercedes SLS AMG, and sliding rear doors. The production version C218 CLS was publicly unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and is based on the E-Class platform, employing the same rear multi-link suspension setup as the previous generation.
