About Infiniti M56

The 5.6-liter V8 VK56VD engine found in the Infiniti M56 was able to compete favorably with the V8 engines found in other mid-luxury (executive) cars like the BMW 550i and the Mercedes-Benz E550. As an alternative to the 5.6L V8, Nissan decided to offer the hybrid version of the Fuga as the performance option for the Japanese domestic market. This decision means that the Fuga does not share this engine with its counterpart, the Nissan Fuga. Beginning with the 2015 model year, the lengthened version of the Fuga that was previously sold under the name Cima is now sold under the name Infiniti Q70L.

One of the available safety features was called Lane Departure Prevention, and it consisted of a small camera that was mounted above the rearview mirror. This camera measured the distance between the vehicle and the lane markers, and it would then gently apply selected brakes in order to guide the vehicle into the correct lane. It made it possible to switch lanes without any obstruction when the turn signal was activated and gave the driver complete control at all times. The Blind Spot Intervention System integrated sensors into the side view mirror in order to display a warning to the driver. If the car detected that it was moving in the direction of an obstruction, it would sound an audible warning and apply the brakes on the opposite side of the vehicle to help direct it back into the proper lane.

At the Geneva Motor Show in 2010, Infiniti unveiled the M for the first time with a diesel powertrain option for the first time. Beginning in September 2010, it will be available for purchase across Europe. At 2,500 revolutions per minute, the V9X diesel engine generates 240 horsepower (179 kW) and 406 pound-feet (550 Nm) of torque. This high-performance V6 diesel will be offered as an alternative to the M56 V8 engine as a high-performance option in western European markets.
