About Infiniti M45
The Infiniti M45 was conceived of in the year 2000 at the Nissan Technical Center (NTC) in Atsugi, Japan;[5] it was manufactured in Tochigi, Japan; and it is based on the Y34-series Nissan Gloria from the eleventh generation. In contrast to the Japanese models, which were only offered with 6-cylinder engines, the M45 was powered by a Nissan VK45DE V8 engine, which produced 340 horsepower (254 kW) and 333 pound-feet (451 Nm) of torque. This engine was shared with the Infiniti Q45, which was the company’s flagship model at the time.
The Y34 M45 employs a different instrument panel design, one that is analogous to the one used in the F50 Q45, and it also employs a different rear multi-link suspension design than the Y34 Cedric and Gloria. These differences come on top of the powertrain differences between the two vehicles. The rear spring of the Y34 Cedric and Gloria is mounted on the strut, just like it is on the Z32 300ZX and the S14/S15 Silvia/200SX/240SX. This design of the rear multi-link suspension is used by the Y34 Cedric and Gloria. The design of the rear suspension on the Y34 M45 is very similar to the design of the rear suspension on the Z33 350Z. In both designs, the spring is mounted separately from the shock and strut and instead sits in a spring cup directly on the lower arm.
The one-piece strut/upright design that was used in the front suspension of the Y33 Q45 has been carried over to the Y34 Q45. Cast aluminum serves as the material for the lower A-arm of the front suspension of the Y34 M45, which previously featured stamped steel.
The M45 expanded Nissan’s use of the 4.5L V8 engine, which had previously been limited to the Q45, allowing the company to better amortize the engine’s development cost.
