About Dodge Caliber

The Caliber went through some relatively minor changes in order to accommodate the 2009 model year. The door handles that were previously only available on the R/T model, which were black and made of plain plastic, have been replaced with painted door handles in a color that matches the car. Additionally, the weight of the trunk lid was decreased, and its opening mechanism was made more intuitive. All of the panels on the inside were given a black finish rather than a gray one. The badge that said “DODGE” was moved to the left from where it was on top of the Ram logo in the middle, and the badge that said “CALIBER” was moved to the right from where it was on the left. Both badges maintain the same size font. The title of the automobile model, which had been indicated on the right, was moved to the lower right corner of the gate lid.

The new model year, the 2010, was introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. It featured an updated interior design that was composed of metallic outlines and parts of glass to reduce the amount of plastic materials that were used in earlier models. Additionally, it featured the addition of an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated mirrors, and an automatic climate control system that was previously only available on the R/T trim level. The glove box has been repositioned on the dashboard in response to numerous customer complaints. It now sits in the area directly above the radio panel and features a “push-open” lock in place of the “squeeze-and-lift” opening mechanism that was previously used.

The SE and SXT models no longer come equipped with the 1.8 L engine, and the SRT-4 model has been phased out entirely. Models destined for the European market are equipped with a new 2.2-liter diesel engine that generates 163 horsepower (122 kW) and 236 pound-force feet (320 Nm) of torque. This engine achieves a combined fuel efficiency of 40.6 miles per US gallon (5.79 liters per 100 kilometers; 48.8 mpg-imp) and offers 40.6 miles per US gallon when driving in the city and on the highway.

For the market in the United States, the models were immediately renamed and rebranded, with the SE becoming “Main Street,” the SXT becoming “Heat,” and the R/T becoming “Rush.”
