About Chevrolet Chrysler

The first generation Chrysler 200 was a restyled, rebadged, and reengineered version of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring. Although the JS base from Mitsubishi was preserved, the 200 received numerous visual and engine upgrades.

The 2.4 L four-cylinder engine with 173 horsepower (129 kW) and 166 lbft (225 Nm)[4] and either a four-speed or six-speed automatic transmission was retained. The new Pentastar 3.6 L V6 engine from Chrysler was also available with a six-speed automatic transmission, producing 283 horsepower (211 kW) and 260 lbft (353 Nm) of torque. The 3.6 L Pentastar engine was also available in flex-fuel form. Stiffer body mounts, improved suspension geometry with a softer ride rate, a new rear sway bar, and upgraded tires were among the other alterations. The Sebring was also less well-equipped than the 200. Chrysler added LED lighting, thicker seat cushions made of higher-quality materials, and new noise, vibration, and harshness-reducing methods.

The Chrysler 200 was built at Sterling Heights Assembly in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and it went on sale in December 2010. In early 2011, a 2-door convertible model with the same engine options was added.

The Kogod Made in America Auto Index named the 200 and its platform mate, the Dodge Avenger, the “Most American Made” sedans and convertibles in 2013.
