Dodge Caravan 2007-2008 Key Programming Procedure

The following are the key programming procedures for Dodge Caravan for the year 2007 and 2008.

ADD KEY (Must have two working Sentry Keys):

1. Put one of the two current keys into the ignition and turn to the ON position.

2. After the key has been in the ON position for at least three seconds — but no more than 15 seconds — turn the key back to the OFF position.

3. Take the key out and put in the second current key, turning it to the ON position, all within 15 seconds. The second key cannot be the same as the first key.

4. After ten seconds, a theft alarm light will illuminate and a single chime will sound. This confirms entry into “Customer Programming Mode”.

5. Within 60 seconds, turn key OFF and remove the current key.

6. Put a new key into the ignition and turn to the ON position.

7. After ten seconds, a single chime will sound. The theft alarm light will turn off. Wait three seconds and turn key OFF.

8. Repeat these steps for additional keys.

About Dodge Caravan

The revised 2001 Dodge Caravan and 2001 Chrysler Town & Country were available for sale in August 2000, after being unveiled at the 2000 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) on Monday, January 10, 2000. The launch was part of a commercial tie-in with Nabisco, who presented their new “Mini Oreos” inside the van during the unveiling. SE, Sport, SXT, AWD Sports, “basic” model, AWD Choice, eL, C/V, ES, EX, AWD Wagon, and SXT All-Wheel-Drive were the trim levels available for the fourth generation vans.

The Generation IV minivans, which were in development from February 1996 until December 1999, were based on the Chrysler RS platform and featured a bigger body frame with changed headlights and taillights. Brandon Faurote started working on the design in January 1997 and received manufacturing approval in 1998.

Power sliding doors and a power hatch were added as options, in addition to other minor improvements. The Mitsubishi 3.0 L V6 engine was phased out after failing to meet emissions rules in California and the northeastern United States, and a more powerful 3.8 L engine based on the 3.3 L was introduced. High-end vehicles continued to be available with all-wheel drive. Other unique features were remote-operated sliding doors and a rear hatch that could be opened and closed at the touch of a button from within the vehicle or with the keyless entry fob.

DaimlerChrysler, like other Dodge vehicles, stopped using the “DODGE” insignia on the front doors with the 2002 model year.

After being retired in 1995, the Caravan C/V and Grand Caravan C/V were reintroduced in 2003. The C/V had the option of having side windows removed (replaced by composite panels), optional rear seats, a cargo floor made of plastic material similar to pickup truck bedliners, rubber flooring instead of carpeting, and a standard back hatch. The Grand Caravan ES received minor updates, including several of the features found in Option Group 29S being standard, the 17-inch Titan chrome wheels no longer being an option and being replaced with standard 16-inch chrome wheels, and the AutoStick Transmission option being removed. This year, a factory-installed rear-seat DVD system with a single-disc player placed behind the HVAC controls became available as an option.

To commemorate Caravan’s 20th year in manufacturing, the 2004 model year featured an exclusive one-year-only “Anniversary Edition” package. Chrome wheels, body-color moldings, special interior elements, and a unique fender badge were featured in this option, which was available on higher-level SXT vehicles.

The Caravan received a reworked grille, new foglight fascia, and a system of in-floor folding second and third-row seats known as Stow ‘n Go seating for model year 2005.
