About Acura TL
The 2014 Acura TL is an excellent used vehicle; it is dependable, comfortable to drive, and performs well in crash tests. The TL, on the other hand, falls short of being a great luxury car. It lacks the high-tech equipment, advanced driver assistance, and luxurious presence that rivals Audi, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz provide.
The Acura TL is powered by two engines. Front-wheel-drive models are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 280 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive models are powered by a 3.7-liter V6 (305 horsepower) with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Both engines provide quick acceleration, and the TL’s all-wheel-drive system offers excellent traction on slick roads. However, AWD reduces fuel economy from 20 mpg in the city to 29 mpg on the highway to only 18 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. The ride quality of the TL strikes a nice balance between soft and sporty.
The Acura TL has five seats and a quiet interior. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a moonroof are standard on all TL sedans. Heated and ventilated front seats are available, as are sport seats with larger side bolsters in all-wheel-drive models. Both seat styles are comfortable and supportive, and both rows have enough head- and legroom. In addition, there are two complete sets of LATCH child-seat connectors in the second row. The TL’s trunk measures 13.1 cubic feet, which is small for the class (12.5 cubic feet in all-wheel-drive models).
The swooping dashboard of the Acura TL includes USB and auxiliary audio inputs, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and an infotainment screen. A larger 8-inch screen, navigation, voice recognition, and 15 gigabytes of music storage are all available. The majority of the TL’s infotainment controls are straightforward, but the sheer number of buttons can be perplexing at first. The TL’s feature set is appropriate for a non-luxury midsize sedan, but not for a luxury model. Many of the TL’s European rivals have more advanced technology, such as rear-seat entertainment systems and head-up displays.
