About Toyota Yaris

Toyota has been selling the Yaris supermini/subcompact car since 1999, replacing the Starlet and Tercel.

Toyota used the Yaris nameplate on export versions of various Japanese-market models until 2019, with some markets receiving the same vehicles under the Toyota Echo name until 2005. In Japan, the Yaris nameplate began to be used in 2020, replacing the Vitz nameplate. Other vehicles have been given the Yaris nameplate. From 1999 to 2006, the nameplate had been used for the Yaris Verso mini MPV sold in Europe, where it was known in Japan as the FunCargo. Since 2020, the nameplate has also been used for the subcompact crossover SUV offering called Yaris Cross. Most Yaris sedan models sold in North America from 2015 to 2020 and Yaris hatchbacks sold from 2019 to 2020 were restyled versions of the Mazda2, which Mazda produced and developed.

Toyota debuted the GR Yaris in 2020, which is a three-door performance variant of the XP210 series Yaris with the Gazoo Racing branding. It’s designed to be a homologation model for the FIA World Rally Championship. (Source: Wiki)
