About Toyota 4-Runner
The Toyota 4Runner is a five-generation SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Toyota and sold worldwide since 1984. It was marketed in Japan as the Toyota Hilux Surf and was withdrawn from the market in 2009. The original 4Runner was a compact SUV that was little more than a Toyota Hilux pickup truck with a fiberglass shell over the bed, but the model has since evolved into a cross between a compact and a mid-size SUV. All 4Runners were manufactured in Japan, either at Toyota’s plant in Tahara, Aichi, or at Hino Motors (a Toyota subsidiary) in Hamura.
The TRD Pro trim level was introduced in the United States in 2014 (for the 2015 model year), with Toyota badging on the front and an off-road package as part of the TRD Pro Series. TRD Bilstein shocks with remote reservoirs, TRD-tuned front springs, and a TRD front skid plate were standard on the TRD Pro 4Runner. The TRD Pro is available in an exclusive color for each model year, in addition to the two colors available on all trims. For the 2015 model year, this was ‘Inferno Orange,’ ‘Quicksand’ for 2016, ‘Cement’ for 2017, ‘Cavalry Blue’ for 2018, ‘Voodoo Blue’ for 2019, ‘Army Green’ for 2020, ‘Lunar Rock’ for 2021, Lime Rush’ for 2022, and ‘Solar Octane’ for 2023.
