About Smart Fortwo
The Smart Fortwo (stylized as “smart fortwo”) is a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-passenger city car manufactured and marketed by Mercedes-Smart Benz’s division. It was first introduced in 1998 and is now in its third generation.
The first generation, known internally as the W450, debuted at the 1998 Paris Motor Show. At the 2006 Bologna Motor Show, the second generation W451 build series was introduced. The third generation Fortwo (2014-) was internally designated as the C453 build series, and it made its global debut on July 16, 2014, at the Tempodrom in Berlin, alongside a closely related four-door version, the Smart Forfour, which was co-developed and shared the same platform and engines as the third-generation Renault Twingo.
