About Nissan Titan
The Titan’s development began in September 1999, with design work overseen by Diane Allen. The exterior design of Giovanny Arroba’s TA60 was chosen in late 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The 2001 Alpha T concept shown at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show previewed the design language of the future truck, which had previously developed through November 2000.
Sales began on December 1, 2003, and production began on September 21, 2003. Nissan’s new full-size F-Alpha platform was used for the Titan. This new platform was shared by the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs, all of which were built in Canton, Mississippi. The first-generation Titan was not significantly redesigned until 2015.
All models came standard with a 32-valve, 5.6-liter VK56DE engine that produces 317 hp (236 kW) (305 hp or 227 kW on 2004-2007 models) and 385 lbft (522 Nm). The first-generation Titan had a fully boxed ladder frame and was available with either rear-wheel drive or a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system with a five-speed RE5R05A automatic transmission. All Titans had an automatic brake-limited slip (ABLS) system. (Source: Wiki)
