About Nissan Altima
A class action lawsuit was filed in April 2015 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on behalf of all Nissan Altima owners from 2002 to 2006. The original lawsuit claimed that Nissan manufactured those model years with defective floorboards on both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle, but it was dismissed by a judge in January 2016. The resulting premature rust was widespread and generally occurred outside of warranty. The true cause was that the front mudguards were not raised sufficiently, and there was no stoneguard applied to the metal plates beneath the vehicle. To a lesser extent, other car models from other automakers have experienced the same issue. (Source: Wiki)
