About Mitsubishi Lancer
In various countries, the Lancer has been marketed as the Colt Lancer, Dodge Colt, Plymouth Colt, Chrysler Valiant Lancer, Chrysler Lancer, Eagle Summit, Hindustan Lancer, Soueast Lioncel, and Mitsubishi Mirage, and has been sold as the Mitsubishi Galant Fortis in Japan since 2007. In Taiwan, it was also sold as the Mitsubishi Lancer Fortis, with a different facelift than the Galant Fortis. It was sold in Japan at a specific retail chain called Car Plaza.
The Lancer Cedia (meaning CEntury DIAmond) was released in Japan in May 2000; however, in most markets, the previous 1995 Mirage-based Lancer soldiered on for a while longer, built at Mitsubishi’s Mizushima plant in Japan. The new model came in sedan and station wagon body styles. Because the Lancer was too close in size to the Dutch-built Mitsubishi Carisma in some European countries, the Evo VII model sold there bore the Carisma name. This series of Lancer was still sold in Japan for 3 years alongside the 2007 onwards generation Lancer, sold there as the “Galant Fortis”. (Source: Wiki)
