About Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG
Mercedes-Benz is a German automaker that produces a range of executive cars under the brand name E-Class. These cars can have a variety of different engines and body configurations. The Mercedes E-Class is a mid-range automobile that has been manufactured continuously since 1953. It has undergone five distinct generations while being sold across the globe.
Prior to 1993, the letter E in the Mercedes-Benz model designation was a suffix that followed the model number and indicated that the car had an Einspritzmotor (German for fuel injection engine). It didn’t start showing up until the early 1960s, when the manufacturer started implementing that feature across the board in all of its models, rather than reserving it for only its most expensive luxury and performance automobiles. By the time the facelifted W124 was released in 1993, fuel injection had become standard in Mercedes engines. At the same time, the letter E was introduced as a prefix (for example, E 220), and the model line was given the official designation of E-Class (or E-Klasse). The E-Class has always been available with either a rear-wheel drive or Mercedes’ 4Matic four-wheel drive system across all of its iterations.
