About Mercedes-Benz C240

1994 marked the beginning of work on the Mercedes-Benz W203 C-Class. Midway through 1994, work on the design was started, and the executive board gave its stamp of approval to the final design in December 1995. The filing dates for design patents were 20 April 1998 and 4 March 1999 respectively. 1997 marked the beginning of the testing process, and the year 2000 marked the completion of development. The second generation of the C-Class was unveiled in March of 2000, and production of the vehicle started on July 18 of that same year.

The sedan was initially offered with a selection of inline-four and V6 gasoline engines, inline-four and -five diesel engines, and in later W203 models, the V6 diesel was added. The vast majority of the W202’s engines were repurposed for use in the C320, but it featured its own unique 160 kW output (215 hp; 218 PS). Both common rail direct fuel injection and variable geometry turbochargers were now standard on the diesel engines.
