About Hyundai Azera

Since 1986, the automobile manufacturer Hyundai of South Korea has been producing and selling an executive sedan known as the Hyundai Grandeur. Before the Hyundai Dynasty was released, Hyundai’s South Korean lineup was topped off by the Grandeur, which served as the company’s flagship model from 1986 until 1996. The Grandeur has gone through five generations with several minor facelifts in between, and it is currently sold under a variety of nameplates across the globe, most prominently as the Hyundai Azera. Prior to the introduction of the Genesis sedan, it was Hyundai’s flagship model in both the United States and Canada under the name Azera. Following the introduction of the Genesis brand as a distinct entity, the Grandeur/Azera reclaimed its position as the premier model of the company.

The Azera is no longer available for purchase in the United States of America or Canada as of the 2017 model year. The four-door sedan remained on sale in South Korea and in countries located in the Middle East.

Mid-size sedans have been available since the Grandeur TG, which debuted for the 2006 model year. A redesigned version of the XG350, it is built on the same platform as the Sonata. In markets such as North America, China, France, Taiwan, the Philippines, Iran, Malaysia, the GCC (states that make up the Persian Gulf), South Africa, Singapore, Peru, Chile, and Brazil, it is marketed under the name Hyundai Azera. It was marketed and sold as the Grandeur in most of Europe (with the exception of France), Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

Before the Genesis was released in 2008, the Grandeur/Azera was the most expensive Hyundai model sold anywhere besides Korea, China, and the Middle East. However, the Genesis was released in 2008.

The Azera utilizes the brand new 3.8 L Lambda V6 engine, which is capable of producing 265 horsepower, and features a four-wheel independent suspension (multi-link in the rear) (198 kW). The power is transferred to the front wheels by means of a five- or six-speed automatic transmission that possesses a “Shiftronic” manual gear selection system. Hyundai claims that its vehicles can reach a top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h) and can accelerate to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 6.0 seconds. It is anticipated that the vehicle will achieve a fuel economy of 19 mpg US (12.4 L/100 km) in the city and 28 mpg US (8.4 L/100 km) on the highway.
