About Hyundai Sonata
Since 1985, the automotive company Hyundai of South Korea has been manufacturing a mid-size automobile known as the Sonata. The very first generation of the Sonata, which was released in 1985 and was essentially a facelifted Hyundai Stellar with an upgraded engine, was taken off the market just two years later due to negative responses from consumers. The first generation of the nameplate was only available in South Korea, but by 1988, the second generation was exported all over the world. The Sonata is currently manufactured in Russia for distribution in other markets, China and South Korea for the Asian market, and the United States of America for the North American market. The word “sonata,” a musical term, inspired the naming of this vehicle, and Hyundai advertisements have made at least one reference to the name.

The preview for the eighth generation of the Sonata, also known as the DN8, took place early in the month of March 2019, and the official launch took place on March 21 in South Korea. In addition, it made its debut during the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show for the Chinese market, and on April 17, 2019, it made its debut during the 2019 New York International Auto Show for the North American market. Both of these events took place in China. The cabin volume places it in the full-size category according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, despite the fact that it is marketed as a mid-sized vehicle in the North American market.
The DN8 Sonata is 30 millimeters (1.2 inches) lower to the ground than its predecessor, and its width is 25 millimeters (0.9 inches) larger than it was before (1.0 in). Its total length has increased by 45 mm, while the wheelbase has grown by 35 mm (1.4 in) (1.8 in).
