Key Programming: Lincoln MKZ 2014-2015
Lincoln MKZ 2014-2015 Key Programming Procedure
The following are the key programming procedures for Lincoln MKZ for the year 2014 to 2015.
PROGRAMMING A SPARE INTELLIGENT ACCESS KEY
NOTE:
You can program a maximum for four intelligent access keys to your vehicle. You must have two previously programmed intelligent access keys inside your vehicle and the new unprogrammed intelligent access keys readily accessible. See an authorized dealer to have the spare key programmed if two previously programmed keys are not available.
Make sure that your vehicle is off before beginning this procedure. Make sure that you close all the doors before beginning and that they remain closed throughout the procedure. Perform all steps within 30 seconds of starting the sequence. Stop and wait for at least one minute before starting again if you perform any steps out of sequence.
Read and understand the entire procedure before you begin.
1. Place a programmed intelligent access key in the backup slot in the center console. The key ring must be at the top with the buttons facing toward the rear.
2. Wait 5 seconds, and then press the START/STOP button.
3. Remove the intelligent access key.
4. Within 10 seconds, place a second programmed intelligent access key in the backup slot and press the START/STOP button.
5. Wait 5 seconds, and then press the START/STOP button again.
6. Remove the intelligent access key.
7. Wait 5 seconds, then place the unprogrammed intelligent access key in the backup slot and press the START/STOP button.
Programming is now complete. Verify the remote control functions operate and your vehicle starts with the new intelligent access key.
If programming was not successful, wait 10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7. If you are still unsuccessful, take your vehicle to your authorized dealer.
About Lincoln MKZ
The Lincoln MKZ is a high-quality midsize vehicle. The MKZ replaced the Lincoln Zephyr for the 2013 model year and continues Lincoln’s legacy of producing comfortable sedans. The 2017 MKZ is offered with turbocharged gasoline engines or a hybrid drivetrain.
Lincoln has confirmed that the MKZ would be phased out after 2020, leaving the Continental as the company’s sole sedan.
The stylish Lincoln MKZ is comfy, but its competitors outperform it without sacrificing much luxury.
Front seat space is adequate, with optional massaging seats making even the longest commutes more bearable. A unique button shifter frees up space and gives the cabin a light, airy feel. The big sunroof is a cool party trick, and the Sync infotainment system is simple to operate. However, headroom and legroom in the second row can be limited.
The MKZ feels solid and quiet on the highway. Some rivals outperform others when it comes to reaching those speeds and maneuvering through curves. The twin-turbo V-6 model accelerates quickly, while the basic and hybrid variants aren’t. The sluggish transmission and numb steering don’t inspire enthusiasm.
Although the MKZ does not pretend to be athletic, its competitors outperform it in terms of performance while remaining similarly luxurious.
The NHTSA gives the MKZ a five-star (out of five) overall safety rating, which combines four-star front collision and rollover ratings with a five-star side crash score. In IIHS testing, the MKZ received top Good ratings in all crashworthiness tests. Its standard front-crash prevention system also receives the highest Superior rating, since it avoided crashes in both 12- and 25-mph tests. However, its basic HID projector headlights have the second-lowest Marginal rating, while optional LED projector headlights receive the lowest Poor rating (due to the excessive glare the lights create).
Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and automatic high lights are among the standard driver-support and active safety technologies.
