Volkswagen Tiguan 2009-2011 Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMS Reset
Simple to follow procedure on how to reset/relearn the TPMS service maintenance indicator warning light on Volkswagen Tiguan for the year 2009 and 2011.
Relearn Procedure when Replacing a Tire or Tire Rotation
1. Inflate all tires to the pressure listed on the vehicle placard.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Hold down SET (or ESP) button, often located next to the gearshift lever, until a beep is heard.
4. Release the parking brake, and drive the vehicle for at least 20 minutes, at a speed of 30 MPH or more, for the system to learn the new tire pressures.
Relearn Procedure when Replacing a Sensor
1. Inflate all tires to the pressure listed on the vehicle placard.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Turn ignition to the ON position, with the engine OFF, and roll the driver’s side window down.
4. Let the vehicle sit for 20 minutes, with the ignition in the ON position. Turn the radio/navigation and climate control systems off to limit the drain on the battery.
5. During the 20 minutes, and with the ignition still in the ON position, SCAN each sensor using your TPMS Tool.
6. Release the parking brake, and drive the vehicle for at least 20 minutes, at a speed of 30 MPH or more, for the system to learn the sensor IDs.
7. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
About Volkswagen Tiguan
Volkswagen updated the Tiguan with a facelift for 2012 models, which was revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The headlights were made bolder and more angular, and the prominent horizontal grille bars of the Golf and new Passat were incorporated, as were the angular line design in the two-part taillight clusters.
