About Mercedes-Benz S430
The W220 S-Class was introduced in the United States in 1999 for the 2000 model year, replacing the W140. The type was noted as the leader in the luxury car market in the United States, and early reviews were mostly positive with the exception of the amount of money that could be spent on options. After Germany, the United States was the second largest buyer of S-Classes at the time. Mercedes-Benz sold 189,437 vehicles in 1999 and hoped to sell more the following year. For their review of the 2001 S-Class, one automotive magazine spent thousands of dollars on options.
They purchased a S 500 and then added Distronic (a smart cruise control system), Active Ventilated Seats, the “Timeport” phone with voice control, and the sport package (AMG rims and trim). After delivery and taxes, the price rose from the mid-$70,000s to the $90,000s. Other models available in the United States at the time were the S 430, S 500, S 55 (AMG model), and S 600. (the V12). For the S 430 and S 500, four-wheel drive became an option in 2003, along with mid-life upgrades that targeted a variety of interior and exterior features. It was introduced as a US$2180 option for the North American S-Class in 2003, for the S 430 and S 500. This full-time system distributes engine power 40/60 front/rear, with electronic adjustment to the wheels (or wheels) with the best traction in slippery conditions. (Source: Wiki)
