About Mercedes-Benz ML430

Later, in 1998, Mercedes-Benz made available the more powerful ML 430, which was equipped with the brand-new Mercedes-Benz 4.3-liter V8 engine. After this, in February of 1999, Mercedes-Benz introduced the 2000 ML 55 AMG, which featured a 5.4-liter engine manufactured by, redesigned bodywork, and other performance-oriented components.

The producers of the film that was released in 1997 were given permission by Mercedes-Benz in September 1996, before the vehicle was even released into production, to use modified pre-production M-Class SUVs as a means of advertising the W163 when it was released in 1997. as a result of the tie-in, Mercedes-Benz provided the film’s star with a free ML 320 luxury automobile and inserted an advertisement for the company before the film on the original VHS copies of the movie. There were three different versions used in the movie, and two copies of each version were created. There are three on display: two at the in Orlando, Florida; one at the in Berlin, Germany; and one at the Visitor Center at the Mercedes-Benz M-Class factory in Alabama.

In addition, the ML 320 was named the magazine’s for 1998 and was selected as the by attendees of the in Detroit in January of that same year. In addition, it was awarded the in March 1999 after being judged by a panel consisting of automotive journalists from around the world in Geneva. In spite of the accolades, Mercedes-Benz was subjected to significant criticism regarding the substandard quality of the W163, which resulted in the vehicle being given the nickname “Alabama Trashcan.” The quality has increased over the years, particularly following the facelift that took place in 2001 for the model year 2002. Before introducing the second generation of the ML in 2005, Mercedes-Benz invested $600 million in facility upgrades at its Alabama factory.

In 2001, in preparation for the 2002 model year, Mercedes-Benz revised and modernized the W163. The styling was updated by installing new headlamp lenses and taillamp lenses, front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels on most of the variants, relocating the side turn signals from the fenders to the side-view mirrors, and making various changes to the interior trim. All of these modifications were made. At the same time, the ML 430 was succeeded by the ML 500, which is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine, and a brand-new ML 400 CDI with a 4.0-liter V8 turbodiesel engine became available in Europe. The following year, in 2002, Mercedes-Benz introduced the ML 350, which featured a V6 engine displacing 3.7 liters and was equipped with all-wheel drive. In some markets, the ML 350 took the place of the ML 320, while in others it served as a complementary model. (Source: Wiki)
