About Mercedes-Benz GL550

Bookending the lower end of the range is the hand-built AMG 5.5-liter biturbo, direct injection V8 that powers the high-performance Mercedes-AMG GL63 AMG, which produces 550 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL350 BlueTEC turbo diesel is located in the middle of the range. The bread-and-butter Mercedes-Benz GL450 (362 hp) and GL550 (429 hp, 516 lb.-ft. ), both of which are equipped with new direct-injection biturbo V8 engines, are nestled in between these two cars that couldn’t be more different from one another. The competitors all use the same 7-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, which distributes power evenly between the front and rear wheels when the vehicle is being driven normally.
