About BMW x4 AWD
If you enjoy the way the X3 handles the road but find its boxy shape to be a little too simplistic, its more swooping sibling, the 2023 BMW X4, has an eye-catching fastback design that is intended to appeal to sophisticated drivers. The X3, like with other squareback SUVs, has more usable space, whilst the X4 is more concerned with its appearance. It’s like putting on a pair of Gucci sneakers for a walk with the dog; even if they’re going to give you blisters, it’s going to be worth it because they look so good. Since the rest of the X4 is virtually identical to the generally remarkable X3, the two primary areas in which it differs from its predecessor are the rear seats, which have less headroom, and the cargo space, which offers fewer storage options. All-wheel drive and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine come standard, but a turbocharged inline-six engine can be added as an option to ramp up the excitement level. The interior of the X4 may not be as dazzling as the outside, but it is nonetheless sophisticated and high-end. In addition, BMW incorporates a plethora of other technological elements. If appearance and functionality are equally important to you, you might want to look at the even more racy X4 M, which we cover in a separate review.

A turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine provides propulsion for the BMW X4 xDrive30i. This engine is capable of producing 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The base model comes outfitted with this particular engine by default. When it was timed on the track, this particular model reached 60 miles per hour in a respectable 6.2 seconds after it had been started. If you are in the market for a vehicle that offers a little bit more pep, the X4 M40i is the model that you should be looking at. A potent turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that generates 382 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque is standard equipment for this model. The BMW X4 M40i is capable of reaching 60 miles per hour from a standstill in just 4.2 seconds, as determined by the outcomes of our acceleration tests on the racetrack; additionally, the sound of its engine is just as impressive as its acceleration. Launch control is included as a standard feature in the product. The SE and the SEL both include, as standard equipment, an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends the torque produced by the engine to all four corners of the vehicle.
The EPA estimates that the X4 xDrive30i gets 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, but in our tests, we got 33 mpg on the highway. The X4 M40i has an estimated EPA fuel economy of 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. During our time with that model, we were able to achieve real-world highway fuel economy of 28 mpg.
