Oil Reset Procedure for BMW ActiveHybrid 5 2012-2015

 

 

Simple to follow oil reset procedure for BMW ActiveHybrid 5 for the year 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

 

 

BMW ActiveHybrid 5 oil reset procedure for the year 2012 through 2015.

1. Press the start/stop button once (do not start the engine).

2. Press and hold the SET/RESET button until the service indicator light appears.

3. Press the SET/ RESET button repeatedly to scroll the service menu.

4. With the oil change interval highlighted, press and hold the SET/RESET button.

5. When “RESET” appears, release the SET/RESET button and press and hold again.

6. Reset complete when “OK” and new mileage appears.

7. Turn ignition off.

 

Or you can also try this procedure.

BMW advances the development of intelligent hybrid drive systems with the introduction of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 – another series-produced model in which a combustion engine and an electric motor work together to improve efficiency as well as the brand’s signature driving pleasure. For the first time, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 combines a BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line engine, an electric drive system, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5’s 225 kW/306 hp six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology is the same unit known for its free-revving capability, pulling power, and efficiency in the BMW 535i. Meanwhile, the electric motor produces 40 kW/55 hp and is powered by a high-performance lithium-ion battery integrated into the luggage compartment. The eight-speed automatic transmission transfers power from the two drive systems to the rear wheels. In addition to its full-hybrid construction, which allows for purely electric and thus local emission-free driving in urban conditions, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 offers a double-digit percentage improvement in fuel economy over the BMW 535i.

To fully realize the potential of BMW ActiveHybrid technology, the power electronics’ intelligent energy management employs a variety of innovative functions to ensure the drive system runs efficiently. The high-performance battery is charged primarily while coasting or braking, with the electric motor acting as a generator, feeding energy into the high-voltage battery. Under acceleration, on the other hand, the electric motor performs a boost function. It helps the petrol engine by generating an ultra-dynamic burst of power, giving the sedan’s sporty driving experience a more pronounced edge.

Furthermore, the combustion engine can be switched off and fully decoupled while coasting at speeds of up to 160 km/h (100 mph) in ECO PRO mode. This coasting mode combines comfortable driving with the most efficient use of kinetic energy. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 has a hybrid start-stop function to avoid periods when the engine is running at idle, such as at intersections or in traffic jams. Furthermore, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5’s power electronics are linked to the standard-fitted Navigation system Professional. This enables forward-thinking analysis of the driving situation, allowing the drive components to be primed for maximum efficiency (the effect may vary according to the quality of the available navigation data).
