About Volvo V70
The Volvo V70 is a three-generation executive car produced and marketed by Volvo Cars from 1996 to 2016. The name V70 combines the letter V, which stands for versatility, and the number 70, which denotes the relative platform size (i.e., a V70 is larger than a V40, but smaller than a V90).
In November 1996, the first generation (1996-2000) was introduced. It was built on the P80 platform and was available with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), the latter being marketed as the V70 AWD. In September 1997, a crossover version called the V70 XC or V70 Cross Country was introduced. Volvo S70 was the name of the sedan model.
The V70 PHEV test vehicle is powered by an 11.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. According to test drivers, the V70 Plug-in Hybrid demonstrators have an all-electric range of 20 to 30 kilometers (12 and 19 mi). The demonstrators were outfitted with a button that allowed test drivers to switch between electric and diesel engine power at any time. The first phase of the field trial concluded in June 2010, with 16 families, all of whom were Volvo or Vattenfall employees, having the car for 1.5 weeks to one month. A second phase of the test was scheduled to take place between July and December 2010 with Vattenfall employees in Göteborg and Stockholm. (Source: Wiki)
